We have just experienced a year of 2017 with many prominent economic and social achievements. Data from the General Statistics Office showed that economic growth was 6.81%, the highest in 10 years and 6.7% higher than the target set by the National Assembly.
In 2017, Vietnam increased its ranking in terms of competitiveness according to the World Economic Forum’s ranking, 55/137; Business environment increased by 14 levels, ranked 68/190 countries and territories according to World Bank ranking. Vietnam’s sustainable development index increased by 20 levels to 68/157.
Also in 2017, capital of foreign direct investment in Vietnam estimated at $ 17.5 billion, increased 10.8% compared with that in 2016 and set a record for past 10 years. Nearly 13 million international visitors arrived in Vietnam, up 29%; tourism turnover estimated at 35.9 trillion, up 10.4% compared with 2016.
In the field of agriculture, building a value chain and increasing competitiveness for Vietnamese agricultural products are good orientation and bring real benefits to the pilot models in Tay Ninh, Dong Thap and many other provinces. From here, high-tech agriculture will not stop spreading, create the change of life for Vietnamese farmers in their fields and gardens. Exports of vegetables and fruits reaching a record of $ 3.45 billion, 40.5% higher than that in the previous year, is the first step; greater success is waiting in the future.
These figures are very meaningful if they were put in the context of 2017 with many difficulties in terms of weather, many political and economic challenges. This showed that if the guidelines, policies, models have been proven effectively in practice, the social resources have been utilized and promoted.
