The seminar brought together over 200 top-ranking cooperatives, investors, financial partners, leading Vietnamese experts and specialists of France, USA, Taiwan and Korea with deep and practical cooperation program in the coming time.

In Vietnam, there are now more than 20,000 cooperatives with more than 6.3 million members and 2.5 million regular workers. Cooperative economy and cooperatives have rapidly developed in both quantity and quality for a long time; and turnover and profits increase year by year.

With the orientation of cooperative economy and cooperative as an important economic model in Vietnam, Vietnam Cooperative Alliance regularly visits, surveys, exchanges and learns experienced from advanced countries so as to build new cooperative models for cooperative member. The new models have brought success to thousands of cooperatives, created jobs with stable incomes for thousands of people throughout the country.

Despite the remarkable achievements, many Vietnamese cooperatives still have internal difficulties, especially in the new period when the Government has just launched national start-up program and the application of high technologies in agricultural development.

With this spirit in mind, Vietnamese and foreign speakers shared successful cooperative models in Vietnam such as Saigon Union of Trading Cooperatives (Saigon Co.op), Viet Cuong Cooperatives, An Phuoc Cooperatives and cooperative model in value chain of Groupe Limagrain (France), etc. Some international speakers also presented the trend of cooperative economy, cooperatives in the world, important trends in market development and export market for agricultural products from Vietnamese cooperatives.

However, statistics from the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance showed that only about 2% of cooperatives can access to incentive loans, while most of the remaining cannot. The lack of capital in production forced many cooperatives expand their production and business, even potentially fall into the danger of bankruptcy, while cooperatives who want to reach out to high technology in agriculture face many difficulties.

Therefore, besides a basic solution to overcome such difficulty, at the seminar, sponsorships also launched the package of preferential credits to buy agricultural materials for cooperatives and farming households throughout Vietnam. To overcome the difficulties of many years in the issue of attracting capital to develop cooperatives.

In addition to the above events, the organizers organized a 400-stand trade fair at Thong Nhat Park (Hanoi). The fair introduced agricultural products, handicrafts, trade and services of cooperatives from 63 provinces, specialties of each region, economic and social achievements and scientific works. This is the biggest event of the year to support cooperatives of 63 provinces in the country to seek business partners and to expand their market.
